Hakimian Speech Therapy

Hello! I'm Marissa Hakimian, M.S., CCC-SLP, a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and the founder of Hakimian Speech Therapy.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Go ILLINI!) and my master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University. I hold Illinois state licensure and national certification through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in both school-based and private practice settings, supporting individuals with a wide range of speech and language needs. These experiences have reinforced my belief that effective therapy should be individualized to each person—not a one-size-fits-all approach. I also believe that meaningful progress is strengthened when families and caregivers are active partners in the therapy process.

I founded Hakimian Speech Therapy with the goal of making high-quality speech and language services more accessible and convenient for families. I provide in-person therapy in the home, school, or daycare setting, as well as telehealth services when appropriate, allowing therapy to fit naturally into each client's everyday environment.

My approach is individualized, supportive, and functional. I strive to create a comfortable environment where children can be themselves, build confidence, and develop communication skills that are meaningful to their everyday lives. Whether working on speech sound production, language development, fluency, or functional communication, I aim to make therapy engaging and purposeful while celebrating each client's strengths and progress.

I currently provide individualized private speech and language therapy to children and families throughout the North Shore communities of Illinois.
